'Ray' Opens in the U.K.

'Ray', the film about the life of the great jazz musician, Ray Charles, opened in cinemas accross the U.K. today.
Having already grossed nearly $74 million at the U.S. box office, the film was well received by the critics, and is tipped for Oscar nominations.
I play the part of Oberon, M.C. at The Rocking Chair Jazz Club in Seattle. My character has a vital role in the story being the one who puts Ray in touch with Jack Lauderdale, president of Swing Time Records. Oberon is a fictional character, based on two 'short' M.C.s working in Jazz Clubs during the period.
I had a terrific time shooting the film in New Orleans, and came away with a real appreciation for the music of Ray Charles. Jamie Foxx was truly mesmerising to watch as he literally 'became' Ray during filming. We played a nice scene together outside The Rocking Chair Club, sharing a cigarette and our thoughts about life, as the rain fell.
I consider myself very fortunate to have been part of such a great piece of cinema, and to have worked with Jamie Foxx and director, Taylor Hackford.
